# Wristband System

## Short Definition

A play-calling system where players wear numbered wristbands, letting the coach signal plays and assignments with a color-number code without huddling.

## Definition

The wristband system is the dominant communication method in competitive flag football. Each wristband holds up to 24 plays. The coach calls a color and number; every player checks their wristband for their individual assignment.

Unlike tackle football where typically only the QB wears a wristband, flag football wristbands go on every player—offense and defense—enabling full-team rapid communication.

## Example

"Blue 7—everyone checks their wristbands. The X runs an out, the slot runs a drag, the center runs a seam. Ready in four seconds."

## Common Confusion

Teams buy wristbands but don't train with them—players fumble through windows during live play. Practice with wristbands from week one.
