# Olympic Flag Football

## Short Definition

The 5v5 flag football competition debuting at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, featuring 6 nations per gender with NFL players eligible to compete.

## Definition

Flag football's inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics (July 15-22 at BMO Stadium) represents the sport's most significant recognition. The IOC approved inclusion in October 2023, driven by Vision28—a lobbying group formed by the NFL and IFAF.

The Olympic format: 5v5, 6 nations per gender, 12-player rosters, two 20-minute halves, on a 50x25-meter field. NFL players were officially declared eligible to compete in March 2026.

## Example

"They're training specifically for Olympic flag now—the 50x25-meter field changes spacing significantly from NFL FLAG dimensions."

## Common Confusion

Assuming NFL players will automatically dominate Olympic flag football. Career flag athletes have technical skills developed over years of competition.
