Interior linemen are evaluated on different traits than tackles. Pass protection at the interior requires shorter sets, quicker hands, and the ability to handle stunts and inside moves. Run blocking demands power, leverage, and the ability to reach block, double-team, and pull in various schemes.

In draft value terms, interior linemen rank below tackles because left tackle is the premium protection assignment in football. However, dominant guards and centers who anchor the inside are highly valued—both for run blocking success and for allowing tackles to handle the edge without inside help.
