## Definition

The green room is the area at the NFL Draft venue where top prospects and their families wait to be selected. Invitations are extended by the NFL to players projected to go in the first round—typically 20 to 30 prospects. Being in the green room is both a logistical arrangement and a public signal of where the league expects a player to be drafted.

The green room experience carries emotional weight. Players sit with family, agents, and coaches watching picks roll by, celebrating when called early and managing growing tension when projected teammates are taken ahead of them. A green room slide—sitting past where a player was expected to go—is one of the most visible moments in draft weekend narrative.

Not every first-round prospect attends. Some choose to watch from home with their community. Some are advised to skip the green room to avoid the spectacle of a potential slide. The decision to attend or not is itself a calculated choice about how to manage expectations.

## Common Confusion
