# Flag Belt

## Short Definition

The belt worn by all players in flag football that holds removable flags on each hip—the primary mechanism for ending plays, replacing the tackle.

## Definition

Every player wears a belt fitted tightly at the hips with flags extending downward and outward. Flag belt types include: Triple Threat (entire belt releases when flag is grabbed); Velcro/hook-and-loop (flags attach via Velcro, easy to reattach); Clip belts; and the Flag-A-Tag Sonic (produces an audible pop heard up to 40 yards).

All leagues require flags to hang freely, cannot match pants color, and cannot be modified. Shorts must be pocketless.

"She has her eyes on the flag belt positioning before the receiver even catches it—she knows exactly which flag to target."

## Common Confusion

Players who tuck jerseys over flag belts create disputed plays. The jersey must be tucked in and the belt must be fully visible.
