A draft invite is the NFL's formal invitation extended to top prospects to attend the draft in person. Invitations are typically offered to players projected in the first round—the league's signal of expected selection status and the mechanism for populating the green room with the most prominent prospects.

The invite carries logistical and symbolic weight. Logistically, it guarantees the prospect access to the draft venue, the green room, and the stage experience of walking up to shake the commissioner's hand when selected. Symbolically, receiving an invite is public confirmation that the NFL views the player as a top prospect—it's announced and tracked in pre-draft coverage.

Not receiving an invite doesn't preclude attending—players can purchase tickets and watch as a fan. But those who decline the invite or aren't offered one typically choose to watch from home surrounded by family and community, avoiding the potential spectacle of falling on national television if their draft position doesn't match the projection.
